Jiffpom: The Other Famous Pomeranian

This is a Boo fan site, so let us say it plainly: there are two Pomeranians in the internet’s hall of fame. Boo was the first. Jiffpom is the other one, and his story is worth knowing even here, maybe especially here.

Who is Jiffpom?

Jiffpom (usually just Jiff) is a Pomeranian born on February 26, 2010 in Chicago, which means he arrived in the world just as Boo was going supernova on Facebook. Where Boo’s fame came from pure, motionless cuteness, Jiff built his career on talent, which is a sentence you rarely get to write about a dog.

He holds Guinness World Records that sound made up until you watch the videos: fastest dog to cover 10 meters walking on his hind legs (6.56 seconds) and fastest to cover 5 meters walking on his front paws (7.76 seconds). He can skateboard, bow, shake hands, and stamp his own autograph. He appeared in Katy Perry’s “Dark Horse” video in 2014, and at various points has been recognized by Guinness as the most-followed dog on Instagram, with follower counts across platforms that most human celebrities would envy.

The Boo connection

Boo and Jiffpom overlap more than breed. Boo proved, starting in 2009, that a dog could be a mainstream celebrity, with books, brand partnerships, and network TV appearances. Jiff walked through the door Boo opened (on two legs, presumably, for the time) and built the professionalized version of that career.

They even share a look. Jiff wears the same short, rounded style that made Boo famous, the teddy bear cut, which by the mid-2010s had become the default haircut for celebrity Pomeranians. That is Boo’s quiet legacy: the dog who left in 2019 still sets the style for the ones who came after.

The elder statesman

Born in 2010, Jiff is now deep into his senior years, a distinguished elder of an internet that has otherwise almost entirely turned over since his debut. Of the great first generation of famous dogs, most are gone now. Jiff remains, still fluffy, still working, a living link back to the era when a Pomeranian could conquer the world just by being wonderful.
